After a nationwide search, the 11,500-plus members of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors have a new CEO: Realtor veteran Michele L. Caprio.
Caprio comes to GLVAR from Rhode Island, where she was CEO of the Greater Providence Board of Realtors, the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors and the Northern Rhode Island Board of Realtors.
“Michele has a long history of relevant real estate experience, both as a Realtor and as a successful CEO for several Realtor associations in Rhode Island,” 2014 GLVAR President Heidi Kasama in a statement.
“She has also served as a local board and state association president and has been very active with the National Association of Realtors and in fundraising with the Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC).”
Caprio was a Realtor for 17 years before transitioning to running associations in 2007 and she holds a Realtor Certified Executive designation. She has also previously worked in retail banking, as a real estate appraiser and as a legislative aide to the speaker of the house in the Rhode Island Legislature, GLVAR said.
Caprio succeeds Nelson Janes, who retired Jan. 9 after three years on the job. Caprio begins her duties on Feb. 1. Until then, GLVAR Chief Operating Officer Wendy DiVecchio will oversee the trade group’s daily operations.
